We will be following the Paleo or Primal nutritional guidelines. This means we will be eliminating all
GRAINS!!!- wheat, rice, corn, bread, cereal, pasta, etc.
Need Fiber?? get it from your fruit and veggies!
NO GRAINS PLZZZZ!!!!
BEVERAGES -All sweetened energy drinks and tea's, soda's, powdered drinks and performance drinks.
COFFEE-avoid excessive use. If you REALLY REALLY need it in the morning, remember no dairy or any type of sweetener real or fake! So black
DAIRY-limit ( cottage cheese only allowed)or avoid all together.
FATS- avoid all trans and partially hydrogenated, canola, cotton seed, corn, soybean, all other high polyunsaturated (sunflower, safflower) oils, margarine, vegetable shortening and all deep-fried foods.
FAST FOOD-do I really need to explain this??
FISH- avoid farmed fish, go with wild caught.
LEGUMES- avoid alfalfa, beans, peanuts, peas, lentils and soybeans
PROCESSED FOODS-if it comes in a box or wrapper think twice before you take it in!
SNACKS-Energy bars, granola bars, pretzels, chips, puffed snacks, popcorn, rice cakes etc.
WHAT YOU CAN HAVE
BEVERAGE-WATER!!! also unsweetened tea's
EGGS-go for organic for the omega-3 content. THE YOLK IS GOOD FOR YOU!!!
FRUIT-try to stick with organic or locally grown. Berries are top choice.
MEAT AND FOWL-Try to get organic, free range, grass fed. go to your local butcher shop or order on line.
FRUIT AND VEGGIE DRINKS- fresh squeezed only and in moderation
SNACKS- Jerky, celery with almond butter, cottage cheese with nuts or fruit topping, canned tuna or sardines, berries, hard boiled eggs, nuts ( raw only), seeds, olives, trail mix (without the m&m's or yogurt covered, pretzels)
STARCHY VEGGIES- Yams and sweet potatoes instead of white or brown potatoes in moderation.
SUPPLEMENTS- Multivitamin/mineral/antioxidant formula. also omega-3 fish oil capsules or oil which you can add to your meals. If your going to do a protein powder ( check my blog about sugar ) make sure non of the sugars are not in your powder.
